“Murder, He Says” was originally written by Frank Loesser and Jimmy McHugh for the 1942 musical film “Happy Go Lucky”, where it was sung by Betty Hutton. It became a popular jazz standard when covered by Dinah Shore in 1943, and featured on the soundtrack of the 2003 film Mona Lisa Smile, sung by Tori Amos.
