Putting It Together

Following his 1976 revue show “Side By Side By Sondheim”, it took 16 years and Cameron Mackintosh to convince Sondheim to put together another revue of songs from his musicals.

The original production was in the UK in 1992 at The Old Fire Station, Oxford, before playing Off-Broadway, and finally on Broadway where it ran from October to December 1998 with cast Carol Burnett, George Hearn, John Barrowman, Ruthie Henshall, and Bronson Pinchot. This production was filmed, and famously Burnett’s skirt fell down in the last number. This mishap was kept in the final edit, and the recording was released on DVD in 2002.
