Description
‘A Healthy, Normal, American Boy’ is a song from the musical Bye Bye Birdie, which follows the story of rock-n-roll star Conrad Birdie joining the army, and the effect that has on a group of teenage girls in Ohio. The story was inspired by Elvis Presley and his draft notice into to the US Army in 1957. This song comes in Act 1 of the show, when the tabloids surround Conrad Birdie asking controversial questions about his lifestyle and drafting, and his songwriter & secretary answer for him in attempt to make him seem like the perfect American soldier.
