“Song of the Jellicles” – Cats – Backing Track
“Song of the Jellicles” is a song towards the end of the first act of the musical CATS, composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber and based on the poems from Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot. The show tells about the lives of a tribe of cats called the Jellicles, who once a year choose one of their number to ascend to the ‘Heavyside Layer’ and be reborn into a new life. Song of the Jellicles is the first part of the Jellicle Ball scene, where Old Deuteronomy welcomes and calls all Jellicles to the ball, where he will make the Jellicle Choice, and the company reprise the Jellicle Song from the start of the musical.
Please note that this backing track is based on the 1998 film recording, rather than the earlier London cast recording. You can buy the film version that this is based on here:
